The name BAL4 originates from Balfour Town, the capital of Salt Cay—often referred to as “the island time forgot.” Though Salt Cay is a quiet place today, in the 1700s and 1800s, its salt production played a vital role in the Turks & Caicos economy. However, by the 1930s, the island’s salt industry experienced a rapid decline.
